Funeral service for Adell Miller Boyd Kindt will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 20, 2017 in Western Hills Christian Church with Rev. Dave Menge, pastor officiating.
Burial will follow in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Adell Miller Boyd Kindt, age 83, of Lawton, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Lawton. She was born December 31, 1933 in Palestine, Texas to Harry and Mildred Miller.
She married CSM (Retired) Aubrey M. Boyd on December 29, 1951 in Palestine, TX. He died in May 1980. Adell married LTC (Retired) Robert W. (Bill) Kindt on July 27, 1985 in Lawton, OK.
Adell held numerous offices in NCO Wives Clubs during her years as a military wife to include President of the Ft. Sill NCO Wives Club in 1969. Adell was awarded the Artillery Order of Molly Pitcher for volunteer services for organizations associated with Ft. Sill to include NCO Wives Club, Dental Clinic Volunteer, Red Cross Volunteer, Field Artillery School Brigade and Post Thrift Shop. She also held offices with Solo Squares Dance Group to include the office of President.
She worked at the Ft. Sill Federal Credit Union for several years and was awarded the Ft. Sill "Work Friendly" Employee of the month at one time.
Adell was a member of the Western Hills Christian Church in Lawton and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5263 and also of MOAA Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, her son Gerald Boyd of Holland and three step daughters: Debbie Michalke of Spencer, OK, Cindy and husband Robert Vaden of Lawton, and Heidi Carpenter of Killeen TX; one sister, Jean Walding and husband Johnny of Palestine, TX; one brother, Carroll Byrd and his wife Paula of Athens, TX; brother-in-law Harold Rhodes of Brushy Creek, TX; sisters-in-law: Linda and Brian Killam of Enid, OK, Carol and Russell Johnson of Cobia Bay, FL., Janet and George Mulley of S.C., Ruth Kindt of Yelm, WA; brother-in-law Larry and Kay Kindt of Lawton, OK; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren - some of these are "step" but all were loved by their "Granny." There were also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, a sister, Frances Rhodes, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Boyd.
