Armanda Ruiz-Varela, 68, of Palestine, passed away at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, surrounded by her children on October 2, 2016.
She was born on August 22, 1948, to Jose and Maria Varela. She married Antonio Ruiz Sr. on October 22, 1966, and together they had five sons and one daughter.
They were married for 48 years before his death on December 13, 2014.
Armanda enjoyed many things in life, including gardening, spending time with her family and traveling.
Armanda is survived by her five sons, Benjamin and wife Gloria, Adolfo and wife Ana, Antonio Jr. and wife Angelica, Jose and wife Abigail, and Delfino and wife Vanessa; and her daughter, Maria and husband Chad. Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Varela; brother, Gil Varela; grandson, Corbin B. Veevers; and great-grandson, Antonio Javier Ruiz.
A rosary will be recited at 4 pm Friday October 7, 2016, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 4:30 pm.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
