In a discovered love letter, he wrote, "When my eyes were 19, they saw a very pretty woman, whom I love and married." In the letter, he expressed how grateful he was to her for their happy years together. In all, they were blessed with 59 years of marriage.
Chester Staples gave his heart and life to the Lord when he was 12 years old. He was faithful to attend and take his family to Norwood Heights Baptist Church. He also served as an active deacon, taught young men's Sunday school and served on various committees as needed at Norwood Heights Baptist Church.
