Deborah's Story

Deborah "Debbie" Gail Essary Cook was born on August 1, 1955 in Palestine, TX to the late Willerson Essary and Etta Bell Armstrong Guthrie. She went to her Heavenly home on August 3, 2017 in Tyler TX at the age of 62. A celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 10:00 A.M at Grace and Truth Gospel Tabernacle, 922 N. Esplanade St., Palestine, TX with Bro. Ricky and Sis. Terri Smith, of Flynn, TX. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction and entrusted to Bailey and Foster Funeral Home.
Waiting to welcome her home were her parents and infant son Jonathan Randall Cook.
Debbie met and married the love of her life, Johnny Cook, on May 17, 1973. Johnny was the most dedicated and loving husband to her and she loved him beyond measure. They had two children Geofferey Cook (wife Shekinah) of Conroe, TX and John-David Cook (wife Candice) of Palestine, TX. Although she never had a daughter, God blessed her with Amanda Cook of Palestine, TX, who filled that void.
Her grandchildren were the inspiration and determination to keep going. Jeremiah, Rebekah, Orla, Kieran and Angel, your grandmomma loved you all more than you will ever know. She was awaiting the arrival of her newest grandbaby, Harper Joy who will be here soon.
Also left to miss her deeply is her daddy, Robert Guthrie of Palestine, brother Paul Essary (wife Doenye) of Athens, Martha Bing (husband Terry) of Oakwood, Mary Brooks (husband Phillip) Palestine and Effie Williams (husband Steve) of Bradford. To her dad, siblings, nieces and nephews she would always hug you and say I love you every time she saw you.
Debbie was a graduate of Palestine High School, Tyler Junior College and Texas A&M Commerce with a Master Degree in Counseling.
If she could, she would tell each and everyone of us today there is no more pain and I'm sure she would remind us of the words her mother told Paul a few short years ago, "It's So Nice Here".
