Dorothy May Ondus Kolstad

Dorothy May Ondus Kolstad was born July 23, 1923 in Coal Bluff, Pennsylvania to John V. and Ada H. Ondus. She peacefully passed away, Saturday, August 3, 2019 in her home of many years surrounded by family.
Mrs. Kolstad grew up in Corry, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Corry High School in 1941. She went on to join the U.S. Army in 1943, and while serving her country during World War II, she met the love of her life, Pete. Shortly after her honorable discharge in 1946, the two were married and moved to Palestine. She worked alongside her husband in his optometry office for many years and also served her community through volunteer work with various charities. She was an avid reader and vivid story teller. She was also devout in her faith and a longtime active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was full of joy, love and laughter, always with a smile on her face. She never met a stranger and was most happy sharing time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Isabel Parke and Kathryn "Joyce" Kaluza, brother John H. Ondus, son Judge John Christopher Kolstad, infant granddaughter Kristen Cloud Kolstad, and her husband of 73 years, Dr. Peter Andrew Kolstad, Jr. on July 31, 2019. She is survived by sisters Mary Raiport and Joan Baldensperger, daughter Luella and husband Dr. Ron Stevener, granddaughters, Misty Lindsay and husband Josh, Marcy Hays and husband Michael, Abbey Stevener-Tharpe, Laura Blanchard and husband Joel, daughter-in-law Mary Kolstad and grandson Jonathan Weaver. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
A rosary was recited in honor of Mrs. Kolstad in the chapel of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Joint services for Dr. and Mrs Kolstad were held Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Justin Briggle officiating. The couple was then laid to rest alongside each other in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
