Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Smith, 93, of Palestine are scheduled for 3 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born on December 25, 1922, to the late Charlie and Mary Combs. She had lived in Palestine most of her life. Mrs. Smith worked 20 years with her husband Myrle Smith at Myrle's Auto Parts & Service and she later worked a number of years for Century 21 before her retirement. She loved to quilt and also enjoyed to hunt and fish and go dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myrle Smith in 1979; brothers, Fred Conerly and J.C. Combs; and sisters, Merlin Harris, Ophelia McCowen, and Viola Sessions.
Survivors include her sons, Colonel Roy Cherry, Roy Glenn Smith, Steve Smith, and Donny Smith; brothers, Bo Combs and Cleveland Combs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Pallbearers are Donny Smith, Ronnie Riddle, David Ryder, Terry Youngblood, Wes Hart, and David Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Stark and Todd Stark.
Condolence calls will be received from 6-8 pm on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
