Dr. Jack's Story
Dr. Jack R. Thompson passed away Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 26, 1930 to O.A. And Loretta Tipton Thompson. He attended college and medical school at the University of Arkansas. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany where he was in charge of delivering babies for service members and their families. Dr. Thompson moved to Palestine in 1958 and established his General Practice office where he worked until his retirement. His favorite part of his profession was delivering babies and he helped bring approximately 6000 little ones into this world throughout his career.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Pagitt Thompson, son Dr. David Thompson and wife Karen of Palestine, daughter Janet Andrews and husband Steve of Beaufort, South Carolina, son Russell Thompson and wife Tammy of Sherman, Texas, adopted son David Louie Thompson and wife Lisa of Montalba, Texas, sister Dorothy Thompson Jackson of Greensboro, North Carolina, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Palestine with the Reverend Doug Blanton officiating.
