Graveside services for Edward W. Dempsey age 90, of Elkhart will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Myrtle Springs Cemetery with Bro. Charles Pyle and Rev. Willie Reagan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Dempsey died Tuesday at the David E. Foster Hospice Unit at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1926 in Mahl, TX. to William Edward Dempsey and Leola Barnes Dempsey. Mr. Dempsey was a Baptist and attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church, but loved Jimmy Swaggert Ministries. He retired from Industrial Industries in Cypress, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was a Staff Sgt. Mr. Dempsey loved the guitar, gardening, and was a super dad.
Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorene Dempsey, sisters Mary Rogas, and Katherine Lochridge, brothers, Honey Owens, Ray Owens, Oren Owens, Lovis Owens, and Joe Owens. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Catherine Dempsey Walters and Larry Walters, a sister Brenda Finger, a brother Jimmy Owens, one grandchild and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
