Ethel's Story

Ethel (Shug) Irene Keeling, 90, beloved Mom and Nanny to many, peacefully passed away on Monday October 2, 2017 in Houston, TX. She was born on September 11, 1927 in Long Lake, TX. She attended Woodhouse School and in 1945 married my dad, the love of her life, Belah Keeling, Jr. Married 70 years.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Belah Keeling, Jr. and son Gary Belah Keeling, also her mom and dad, Tine and Bertha Warren, one brother Tony Warren, three sisters, Mildred (Auntie) Smith, Marion (Sis) Pritt and Rose Skains. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Hibbeler and husband Jerry Hibbeler, one grandson (she loved dearly) Herman (Bo) Lee Pendley III and three adored great grandsons, Preston and Peyton Pendley and Jake Venuti and one great great grandson Bryce Venuti and many nieces and nephews.
Ethel loved life. As much as she loved her family, her church was at the top of her list also. She loved the fellowship and baking her pies. Everybody loved Miss Shug's pies.
Funeral services for Ethel (Shug) Irene Keeling will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 8th at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to and provided by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Preston Pendley, Peyton Pendley, Jake Venuti, Terry Skains, and Bennie Ray Skains, and James Allen Dunn. Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Crutcher.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
