Funeral services for Florentino "John" Torrez, age 80 of Palestine, will be 10:00 am, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Rhone Funeral Home in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Father Rajaian Mathias officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Park. Mr. Torrez passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Trucare Living Center in Palestine. He was born October 16, 1936 in Oakwood, Texas to Pablo and Eulogia Gomez Torrez. Mr. Torrez was retired from Calhoun Packing Plant as a butcher. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. Torrez is survived by his children Linda Potts of Troup, Texas, Johnny Torrez of Palestine, Texas, Jerry E. Torrez & wife Michele of Palestine, Texas, and Carlos Torrez of Palestine. He is also survived by his siblings S.G. "Tex" Torrez of Palestine, Texas, Amando Torrez of Athen, Texas, and Paul Torrez of Palestine, Texas. Grandchildren; Katrina Torrez, Marcus Torrez, Kim Ontiveros, Justin Potts, James T. Torrez, Crystal Torrez, John Torrez, Brandon Torrez, Jerry D. Torrez, Charles Torrez, Brian Torrez, and Charlie Hutcherson, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. Torrez was preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Eulogia Gomez Torrez; one son James C. Torrez; brothers Pablo Torrez, Chico Torrez and Joe Torrez; Sisters Fernanda Gomez Trevino, Janie Gomez Trevino, Florentina Gomez Aguirre, Marcella Gomez Attaway, Maganella Gomez Torrez, Siprana Gomez Torrez.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Torrez, Justin Potts, James T. Torrez, John Torrez, Brandon Torrez, Jerry D. Torrez, Charles Torrez, and Brian Torrez.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Rhone Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Torrez are under the direction of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S.
