Marion Gayle Martin, 62, of Neches, passed away on October 23, 2017. She was born on May 8, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Clyde Martin and Ruby Mills Martin. Gayle was a professor of Art Appreciation and Art History at TVCC at the Athens and Palestine Campus'. She received her Associates from TVCC, and her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Arts with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Tyler.
She is survived by her son, Eric Davis; grandchildren, Hali, Hannah, and Heidi Davis; her beloved pet Sophia Marie; and many cousins, special family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ruby; maternal grandparents, Noah and Clara Mills; and paternal grandparents, Claude and Iva Martin.
Her biggest joy was spending time with her son and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her yearly trip to Europe and touring art museums anywhere she could find one. Her hobbies were painting, photography, and woodworking.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home in Palestine. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at Neches Cemetery in Neches. Pallbearers will include Aaron Mills, Russell McCoy, Kevin Endsley, Joe Cotten, Craig Combs, and Oscar Flores.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the TVCC Art Department at Trinity Valley Community College Foundation, Art Department, 100 Cardinal Drive, Athens, TX 75751.
