Glen Eugene Gutzman, age 62, died at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. He was called home to our Lord and Savior after a long battle with various health issues.
Born June 4, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, Glen spent much of his life in Alaska and finally found his final earthly home in Palestine, Texas. He retired after many years as a hard-working, proud American who also served his country for 6 years in the United States Army as an engineer specialist. He was married to Rhea Carole on February 21, 1980. Glen had a zest for life and a sense of humor that will be missed by those he loved and who loved him in return.
Survivors include his wife, Rhea Carole; daughter, Hannah Gutzman; daughter, Ashley (Steve) Maddy and grandsons Logan and Conor Glen; daughter, Heather (Luis) Zapata and granddaughter Cailyn and grandsons Aaron and Nico; daughter, Amy (Roy) Trumblee and granddaughter Kristen (great-granddaughters Ellie and Linley), grandsons Kristopher, Ryan, Jordan and Brenden; daughter Amber (Rich) Harriman and granddaughter Katherine (great-granddaughter Nayelli and great-grandsons Liam and Lyndon), granddaughters Brooke and Nathalie and grandsons Bryce and Jace. Glen is also survived by his brother Jimmy (Victoria) and Wayne (Laurie) and their children and grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his father, Donald; mother, Phyllis; sister, Donna and son, Billy.
A celebration of life to honor Glen will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 between 3 and 6pm at New Life Community Church located at 2320 TX-155 in Palestine. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend, reception to follow.
