Graveside services for Glen Lackey, 89 of Palestine, will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Strong Memorial Park in Slocum, with Rev. Barney Walker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
Mr. Lackey was born on April 13, 1928, in Cross Plains, Texas, to Oscar Lackey and Estelle Gray Lackey. Glen was his dads thirteenth child, there were sixteen children, they have all passed away.
Glen died on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at his home. He will be laid to rest by his first wife Coye Johnson Lackey. They were married on October 31, 1947, in Kerrville, Texas. Coye passed away April 1, 2009. He married Joyce Defoor on April 2, 2010, she is still living, also survived by niece, Shirley Shoemake, nephews, Michael Dillingham, Jerry Vickery, Frank Ferguson, Earl Ferguson, and Rayburn Johnston. Glen is a WWII veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Glen was a fifty year Southern Baptist Deacon. He was retired from the VA Hospital in Kerrville, Texas, with thirty-seven years of service. He was a master plumber, and was over the plumbing, pipefitting, and machine shop when he retired. He was a fifty plus year Mason with Kerrville Lodge #687 AF & AM.
