The sun set on Helen "Sistergirl" Crawford, age 72, of Elkhart, on Friday, March 17, 2017. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Dan Manuel officiating. Interment will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Rhone Funeral Home. The sun rose on May 13, 1944 for William T. Mason and Frances Elaine Nash when their daughter, Helen Elaine Crawford was born. "Sistergirl" would become the matriarch of the family. She loved to cook and teach others to cook. She had an award winning hot sauce and made the best biscuits. Her greatest loves were her girls and grandkids.
Helen Crawford is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Avery "Burt" Crawford, and sister, Linda Faye Jeffcoat.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Starr of Elkhart, Debra Lamaster and Truman of Elkhart, Marsha Hicks and John Jr. of Palestine, Brandi Green and Thomas Jr. of Elkhart; brothers, Mike Mason and Jill of Tyler, Billy Mason and Liz of Palestine; grandchildren, Corey Starr, Jamie Keese and Dalton, John Lamaster, Clint Lamaster, Melody Lamaster, Jonathan Hicks and Jessie, Angela Jimenez and Nick, Madison Burns, Hailey Burns, Destini Burns, Hunter Green and Tripp Green; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Corey Starr, John Lamaster, Clint Lamaster, Jonathan Hicks, Nick Jimenez and Dalton Keese.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Station in Palestine, Texas.
