Funeral services for Mr. J.B. McCracken, 88, of Kilgore will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Home Baptist Church with Reverend Earl "Buddy" Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Mr. McCracken passed away on Friday March 3, 2017 in a Longview hospital..
J.B. was born on June 18, 1928 in Elkhart, Texas. He was the son of the late William Brownlow McCracken and Clara Kate Tinney McCracken. J.B served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a very charitable man, giving to many different charities and organizations to help his community. He was a member of the Forest Home Baptist Church where he attended the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101, Sharon Shrines Temple, and the Lions Club of Kilgore. J.B. was President of Brooks Well Service in Kilgore and served as the first Board President of City National Bank in Kilgore, which is now Austin Bank. J.B. loved his family and friends and will be remember as an honest and giving man.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa McCracken Stewart of Kilgore; granddaughter, Samantha McCracken and husband Darrell Shaffer of Burleson; great grandson, Landon Shaffer of Burleson; sister, Loretta Young; brother, Stafford McCracken; aunts, uncles cousins, nieces and nephews. J.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Judy McCracken, his parents and several brothers and sisters.
