Funeral services for James Richard Turner, age 83, of Lovelady and formerly of Palestine are scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Westwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, in Crockett.
He was born on May 13, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee to Zelmer and Fannie (Muse) Turner. Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church and former pastor for 28 years at Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Turner.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Turner of Lovelady; sons, Richard Turner and Conni of Centerton, Arkansas and Gary Turner and Sammi of Palestine; daughter, Melissa Little and Billy of Lovelady; 7 grandchildren: Gary Wayne Turner and Lindsey of Austin, Michael Turner and Kasey of Taylor, Katherine Conner and Sean of Palestine, Trey Turner and Chelsea of Maryland, Taylor Marino and Kyle of Bentonville, Arkansas, David Little of Lovelady, and Leslee Kleckley and Mitchell of College Station; and 12 great-grandchildren: Briley, Hannah, Kaylee, Jacob, Garrett, Mason, Reese, Ryan, Cooper, Colby, Luna, and Drew.
Pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Turner, Michael Turner, Sean Conner, Trey Turner, Kyle Marino, David Little, and Mitchell Kleckley.
A visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
