Services for Jeanne S. Woodard age 81, of Palestine will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Woodard passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Palestine. She was born March 3, 1936 in Grapeland, Texas to Royce Weldon Sowell and Ruth Masters Sowell. Mrs. Woodard graduated from Grapeland High School, received her B.S. in education from Sam Houston State University and her Masters degree from Texas Eastern University, now UT Tyler. Her career spanned over 40+ years, she was a retired teacher, having taught in Port Lavaca, West Columbia, Grapeland, Palestine and Westwood school districts. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Harvey Woman's Club and Crockett Road Church of Christ.
Mrs. Woodard was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, E.G. (Tilley) Sowell and R.W. (Nubin) Sowell, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul S. Woodard, Sr., a son Paul S. Woodard, Jr. and wife Melissa all of Palestine, a grandson Steven Kyle Woodard and wife Paige of Dallas, a special sister-in-law Patsy Coleman, special niece and nephew Kay and Guinn Sowell and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Guinn Sowell, Tucker Sowell, Buster Masters, Sherman Estes, Kyle Woodard and Cliff Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, 207 S. Magnolia, Palestine, TX. 75801.
