Services for Joe Frank Collins, age 82 of Tyler will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Chapel. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to and provided by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Collins passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was born March 28, 1935 in Palestine, TX to Joe Frank Collins, Sr. and Dessie Coker Collins. Mr. Collins was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the military after 20 years. He was also a psychologist and retired from TDCJ, Beto I Unit, Tennessee Colony, TX. as a warden and from the Skyview Unit in Rusk, TX., as Sr. warden.
Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Terri Lynn Collins, and two sisters, JoAnn Walker and Mary Katherine Collins. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Collins, a son Charles Collins, special friend Suzanne Collins, wife, Jane Collins, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a nephew Kelly Walker.
Pallbearers will be Nolan Burke, Jeremy Burke, Andrew Burke, Ian Burke, Shane Collins and Matthew Taylor.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, 207 S. Magnolia, Palestine, TX. 75801.
