Joel's Story

Joel E Kelley, 65, died July 29, 2017 at his home in Galena Park, Texas after an ongoing struggle with health issues. Joel leaves behind siblings, Nancy Jensen (Jacinto City, TX), Lois Teer (Pittsburgh, TX), Linda Goebel (Athens, TX), and Dorothy Kelley (Galena Park, TX), William (Bill) Kelley (Palestine, TX) and many nieces and nephews.  Born (August 20, 1951) and raised in Palestine, Joel was preceded in death by parents Buford R. and Mary Ann E Kelley.  He was a life-long member of Concord Baptist Church where, for a period, he served as custodian. Passionate about gospel hymns, Joel would spend time working in the yard and on the family farm singing and whistling his favorites.  He loved to be helpful to any and all, and would work tirelessly for others expecting only a handshake or hug in return, but of course a big glass of tea never hurt either. A memorial service will be held at Concord Baptist Church on Saturday, August 5th, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Mark Rogers officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to and provided by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Concord Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1492, Palestine, TX. 75802.
