Palestine, TX -- Joseph (Joe) Anthony Rosprim, 78, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas following a brief illness.
He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Myrtle (Pat) Rosprim; his daughter, Laura Smith; step-daughter, Patricia (DeJuan) Golmon; two sisters, Jeanette Storey and Nell Rutledge; and two brothers, Bernard (Bud) Andrew Rosprim and James (Tommy) Rosprim; grandchildren: Anthony Rosprim Jr., Deborah Rosprim, Felicia Rosprim, and Brandon Smith; along with eight great-grandchildren: Glenn, Anslei, Emily, Damian, Linkin, Slade, Amren, and Ryder. Other survivors include eleven nephews, eighteen nieces, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse Joseph Rosprim, and Rena Marie (Reynolds) Rosprim; two sons, Joel Edward Rosprim and Anthony (Tony) Eugene Rosprim; and five siblings, Elizabeth (Liz) Harrington, Al Rosprim, Marie Mathews, Theresa Butler, and Dorothy Rosprim; and a niece, Carry Sue Harriman.
Born and raised in Palestine, TX, Joe graduated from Palestine High School in 1957 and joined the Army. He proudly served his country for 6 years and returned to his Texas roots after a honorable discharge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and was a devoted and loving father of his three children. During his life journey, he became a Master Carpenter and worked for Dow Chemical in Lake Jackson. He called Palestine, Lake Jackson, and Houston, Texas home.
