Laurin (Larry) Martis Linson, 79, of Grapevine, Texas passed away on January 24, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of L.Q. Linson and Evelyn Cone Linson. The funeral service will be held graveside at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Palestine City Cemetery at the Linson plot. Arrangements are being handled by Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home, Palestine.
Larry was born in Palestine, Texas on May 16, 1937. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1954. Larry attended the University of Texas and Sam Houston State, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
Larry had three children: Laurin M. Linson, Jr., Alan Linson, and Lee Ann.
Larry worked for Boeing Aircraft, the University of California at Los Alamos, New Mexico National Laboratories, and IBM. He retired from IBM in 1992. Larry remained busy as a consultant in the computer industry for several years after his retirement.
Larry is survived by son Laurin (Larry) Linson, Jr. and wife Rhonda and grandchildren Asa Linson, Monica Conaway and Megan Conaway; son Alan Linson and his wife Oleta and grandson Benjamin Linson; and daughter Lee Ann Poe and husband Rudy and granddaughters Amanda and Melanie Slosser.
Larry was involved in making jewelry and was a member of the Wild West Bead Club of Arlington. He remained active in the computer club, NTPCUG. He will be missed by the members of both.
