Margaret's Story

Margaret Catherine Benthin Lucius was born April 16, 1914, went peacefully, with family at her side, to her heavenly reward from Amara Hospice in Edinburg, Texas on October 5, 2016.
Born to Louis Benthin and Viola Benthin Hill in Leavenworth, Kansas, Margaret was an accountant who worked throughout the state of Texas. While living in McAllen she worked for the Hidalgo Federal Credit Union. She was a member of the McAllen B&PW Club, as a Secretary treasure during the '60's. Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed deciphering cryptograms and working crossword puzzles. She was always a great listener and ready to share interesting stories of her life. After her retirement to East Texas she enjoyed volunteering to help assist the elderly with tax preparation.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband J.A. (Benny) Lucius, sister Marie Amen, daughter Linda Marie Lucius Pittman, grandchildren Stephanie Shawn Witte and Robert DeBerry. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Lucius DeBerry (E.F. Buddy) Jackson, sons Stephen A. (Viia) Lucius and Aaron Lawson (Delores) Lucius, niece Shirley Jean Blanchard, grandchildren Donna (Doug) Parker, Linda Witte, John (Rebecca) DeBerry, James DeBerry, Gary Lucius, Tracy Lucius Rubalcaba, Michael Lucius, great and great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many adoring friends.
Services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Friendship Baptist Church in Blackfoot, with Rev. Lynn Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
