Text size

Graveside services for Mark Wayne Dean, Sr., 56 of Palestine, will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Roselawn Park with Bro. Gary Southard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. There will be a gathering at the funeral home and will be leaving at 12:30 for those wishing to ride in procession to the cemetery.
Mr. Dean passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, at his home. He was born June 22, 1960 in Palestine, to Wayne Dean and Dorothy Harris. Mark Dean loved to fish and was known as the resident subject matter expert at Circle-R Lake. He also shared an affinity for riding his motorcycle cross-country with family and friends. In August of 2015 he completed his final long-ride during a 21-day excursion in Tennessee. Accompanied by Michael and Debra, Michael and Missy Price, and Ms. Pat Barrett, all local residents of Palestine, Mark rode the Dragon's Tail, a world-renown route containing 313 turns in just 11 miles of roadway.
A truly gifted craftsman, Mark excelled as a machinist. He began his career at Turbyfield's Machine Shop at age 15. He acted in the capacity of head machinist at Trinity Machine Shop, rounding out a 41-year career as the shop foreman and lead machinist at F.H. Palestine Hydraulic.
Mark had an exceptional sense of humor, and loved telling a good joke. His "easy" personality welcomed newcomers, quickly making strangers close friends. A loving son, father, grandfather and friend, he will be sorely missed among those fortunate enough to have known him.
Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Ruth and Marshall Honeycutt, and brother John Bice. He is survived by his mother Dorothy Nell Harris, girlfriend Ginger Ivy, daughter LeAnn May and husband Michael, sons Mark Wayne Dean, Jr., and wife Winter, Josiah Bihler and wife Jessica, and Zach Bihler, sisters, Madyln Riddle and husband Joe, and Kristina Harris, brother Michael Dean and wife Debra, grandchildren; Kayley, Kevin, Noah, Emma, Haden, Olivia, Elias, Isabelle, Bryce, and Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Riddle, Jeremy Riddle, Louis Dean, and Jackie Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Price, Mark Riddle, Keith Clay, Shawn Dobson, and Tommy Miller.
