Marsha's Story

Marsha Anne Carmichael of Palestine, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at home during her sleep on Tuesday, the 15th of August, 2017. She was 53 years of age. Marsha was born in Rushville, Indiana on Sunday, the 29th of March, 1964 to Phillip Ray McDonald and Estelle Tompkins. Marsha grew up in Knightstown, Indiana.
Marsha, affectionately known as "MOM", "M.E.G." and "CUTIE" loved to be surrounded by her family. She had a love for cooking and spent many wonderful hours doing so for her family. In the kitchen, Marsha was known to make a delicious meal making something from nothing. Marsha liked arts and crafts and was an avid collector of Cardinal birds. Marsha worked for Dr. Mathis and other doctors in the area. Most recently for the past 18 years, Marsha worked for Dr. Richard Cooper. Over the years she held many different positions, such as a clerical personnel, office manager and medical billing and collection. She had a deep faith in Jesus and attended Grace Bible Church in Palestine.
Marsha is preceded in death by her mother, Estelle Tompkins McDonald.
Marsha is survived by her husband of 31 years, Joe R. Carmichael; father, Phillip Ray McDonald; children, Matthew Carmichael and wife Christina of Palestine, Texas, Elizabeth Carmichael Ramos and husband Gerson of Sugarland, Texas and Luke Carmichael of Palestine, Texas; grandson, Jacob Carmichael; sisters, Lisa Overleese and Caryn Angel; brother, Chad McDonald and many other family members.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Royal Becker for his dedication and loving care for Marsha. Also, they wish to thank all those with Hospice of East Texas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock until seven o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 18th of August, 2017 in the parlor and reflection room of Rhone Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 19th of August, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel, where Dr. Dan Gold is to officiate. Interment will follow in the Buffalo City Cemetery in Buffalo, Texas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tom Overleese, Bryce Angel, Joshua Jordan, Rick Taylor, Couper Knowles and Edgar Garcia.
