Martha's Story

Martha Jo Braly, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in her family home on December 5, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. Martha was born on September 8, 1936 in Palestine, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neual Mitchell Braly and Jessie Belle Franklin Braly. She is survived by her sister Marjorie Lee Braly of Palestine, Niece Stephanie Braly-Beutjer and her husband Michael of Huntsville, Alabama. Nephew, Stephen Braly and his wife Vicki of Palestine, Texas. Great Nephews, Sam Braly, Reed Braly, Matthew Beutjer and Braly Beutjer, and long-time friend, David Barnes of Dallas, Texas.
Throughout her successful 40-year career with Exxon Corporation, she worked in the Houston, New York City, and Dallas offices. She was the Executive Staff Assistant to the General Counsel and Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corporation.
Martha was a woman of grace, kindness and generosity. She shared her radiant smile, quick wit and humor with everyone she met. She and her sister, Marjorie, enjoyed traveling together, spending time at the family farm and were best friends throughout their life. Her niece and nephew enjoyed spending time and going on trips with her throughout their formative years and into adulthood. Her great nephews enjoyed her exuberance and loved her deeply.
Martha was independent and adventurous so she traveled the world, including Africa, New Zealand, Australia, France and her favorite country Italy. Her other hobbies included attending the Dallas Symphony and was an avid supporter of the Dallas Arboretum. Martha was baptized and a member of First Christian Church, Palestine, Texas. Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, at First Christian Church, 113 E. Crawford Street, Palestine, Texas at 11:00am with a graveside service immediately following.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Braly, Michael Beutjer, Tommy Bomar, Sam Braly, Reed Braly, Matthew Beutjer, Braly Beutjer and Mike Franklin
