Melba Ann Whitescarver McNeill

June 05, 1935 - October 03, 2018

Melba Ann Whitescarver McNeill returned home to the loving arms of her Savior on October 3, 2018. She was surrounded by her family as she ever so gently drifted to heaven.
Melba was born on June 5, 1935 to William and Marjorie Whitescarver. She had a contrary younger brother named David, whom she learned to love. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Harold McNeill, who captured her attention at a water fountain of all places. Together they raised three beautiful, slightly crazy, children: Candace, Joel, and Brian. She was then blessed by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally.
Melba was a godly woman, who loved Jesus with all her heart. Her faith was evident as she daily exuded generosity, kindness, devotion, and joy to those around her. Her bible was one with crinkled pages full of marks from constant use. She believed that scripture was not just meant to be memorized, but should be imprinted on the heart and lived out.
The vein of servitude ran consistently throughout every calling Melba answered to. As a thoughtful friend, diligent secretary, devoted daughter, loving wife, affectionate mother, and attentive grandmother she baked, typed, hugged, cleaned, purchased, attended, and hosted all for the sake of others. Melba loved well. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special. For each one she loved uniquely.
She will forever be remembered for her sounds of frustration, incessant picture taking, sassy one liners, and delicious chocolate pies. In her later years she found great joy with her canine companions, Sparky and Buffy.
Melba Ann lived a simple, lovely, full life. Her legacy of faith and love will continue for generations to come.
In heaven she will join her parents, William and Marjorie Whitescarver, her brother, David Whitescarver, and her husband, Harold McNeill. She will be missed by: her children and their spouses: Candace and Ennis Turner, Joel and Linda McNeill, and Brian and Kelli McNeill, her grandchildren: Christy Perkins, Emily McNeill, Joshua Turner, Lesley McNeill, Matthew McNeill, Audrey McNeill, and Bella McNeill, her great grandchildren Jeremy Sias, Nathan Perkins, Shayna Perkins, and Evan Perkins, and countless other family members and friends.
She was a member of the Christ Community Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Clint Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
