Funeral services for Mollie Vera Green 96 of Palestine, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2019 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Grasty officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Vera passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Legacy at Town Creek. She was born September 18, 1922, to William H. Ward and Sallie Fitzgerald Ward in Concord, Texas. While living in Concord she met the love of her life, Winfred Lee Green, and they married on August 18, 1940. They were married for 78 years.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents William and Sallie Ward, siblings Walter, Oliver, Stella, Ladybelle, Verna, and her daughter Molly Ann.
She is survived by husband Winfred Green, son-in-law Don Phillips, grandchildren Michael Ray, and Molly Paige, and great-grandchildren Christopher, Katherine, and Michael.
Vera worked at JC Penney for 23 years as an office manager she also was very active in her church, serving as WMU secretary and taught Sunday School.
There was always a smile on Vera's face, and she loved spending time with her family. Her witty sense of humor made those around her laugh, and she made everyone around her feel loved.
Vera's life can be measured not only in years, but in the joys she shared with others, in smiles with friends and family, and in the love between her and her husband that stands as a testament to a life lived well and fully. As a vibrant and unique part of her family and community, she will be missed.
Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Annie Armstrong Easter offering at Southside Baptist Church or First Baptist Church of Palestine.
