Ovie Nell "Grandma" Costlow, age 95, of Palestine, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, the 18th day of September, 2017. Ovie was born in Anderson County on the 8th day of April, 1922 to Tom Dave Pierce and Elizabeth Kaye Knighton Pierce. She was a graduate of Miller Farm School and Montalba High School. Ovie went on to marry Ray Eugene Costlow and started a family. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Ovie was a seamstress for Hollywood Vasserette and a clerk for the Montalba Store. During World War II, Ovie worked in an airplane factory. She enjoyed music and dancing, shopping, sewing, quilting, attending church, and cooking meals for her large family. Ovie was a member of Gray's Chapel Church of Christ for 50 years. Her wisdom, righteousness, sense of humor and unconditional love will be greatly missed by her family.
Ovie is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Elizabeth Pierce; husband of 60 years, Ray Eugene Costlow and 14 brothers and sisters.
Ovie Costlow is survived by her daughters, Ovie Jean Lambright, Nell Rhea Waldon and husband Arvis, Liz Missildine and husband Gary, Penny Costlow and Daphy Costlow; sons, Maurice Costlow and wife Judy and Orre Costlow and wife Donna; sisters, Marie Hilton and Lou Ellen Mills; brother, Meridan Pierce; eighteen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 20th day of September, 2017 in the parlor and reflection room of Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 21st day of September, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are grandsons, Victor Lambright, Shelby Lambright, Stephen Costlow, Todd Costlow, Dale Waldon, Jim Missildine, Brandon Costlow, Jared Conaway and Devin Hassell.
