Mrs. McKinney passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Legacy at Town Creek.
She was born February 21, 1940, in Tyler, Texas to Raymond Earl Smith and Virginia Lucille Owens Smith. Our Mother spent her 79 years witnessing to others about Jesus Christ and leading many to the Lord. She never met a stranger and would give all she had to those in need. Her greatest joy was us five kids, her grandkids, and great-grandkids. Family was so important to her as she was the center of ours. She goes before us to heaven and waiting to follow are her husband of 59 years, Hubert McKinney; children, Robert McKinney and wife Debbie, Shari Sessum and husband David, Linda Luce and husband Jimmy, Lisa Chason and husband Brian, and Mary Taliaferro and husband Danny. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Negethon, Janice Durham, Donna Dancer; and brother, Randall Smith.
Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lucille Smith and an infant son, Charles Benjamin Harrison McKinney.
Our Mother, the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman: "She was clothed in beauty that radiated from within." Such a diligent homemaker that made sure her family was clothed, fed and warm, but most of all that we laughed! Such a wife of noble character and the only person who could make our daddy laugh at times he didn't want to. Never asking for the things of this world, but embraced life with a strength that only comes from the fear of the Lord and an obedient spirit. She was clothed with strength and dignity and spoke with wisdom. Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also and he praises her. Many women do noble things- but Mom, you surpassed them all. If you were blessed enough to know our Mother then you also had the opportunity to meet her Lord and Savior.
