Paula Frances Price Jett, sixteen days shy of 100 passed away Thursday morning, August 15,
2019. Father Zach Kunnakkattuthara will celebrate the rosary 10:30 AM and funeral Mass at
11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine on Thursday August 29, 2019 with Father Jonathan Frels officiating. The burial
will be for immediate family only.
Paula was born in Purdon, Texas on September 1, 1919 of parents James Hubert and Lina Lynch
Farrald. She was the tenth of twelve children in the family.
After her mother's death, Paula lived in a Catholic orphanage until her graduation from high
school. She was valedictorian of her class and was awarded a four-year college scholarship.
Paula married Samuel A. Price in 1940 in Palestine and began her family of five boys.
She taught at St. Mary's Catholic School in Freeport, Texas for several years in the 1950's and
then opened a licensed day care center, Paula's Playhouse. Hurricane Carla destroyed the
business and her home in September 1961. Paula then took a job as a clerk in the agents' office
for Missouri Pacific Railway Company and worked in Sugarland and Conroe, Texas for five years.
She then moved back to Palestine and worked as a Freight Claims Investigator until her
retirement September 1, 1984.
Since retirement Paula was a volunteer for various charitable works as an active worker at the
St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store & Food Bank. She was the past president of the Ladies Altar
Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus
Council 1323 and Vice President and Secretary of the Parish Council. Paula was a Lector at
Masses for years and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Mrs. Jett was pre-deceased by: husbands, Samuel A. Price, and Steen O. Jett, who she married
in 1987; her parents, James Hubert and Lina Lynch Farrald; an unnamed infant; brothers, Lewis
Evans, Wendell Farrald, Day Farrald, Hubert Farrald, Harry Farrald, and Father Jack Farrald of
Boys Town; sisters, Macie Farrald, Louise Farrald, Lillian Keeling and Mildred Vance; and sons,
Gregory Price in 1946 and Farrald Price in 1998 and step-son Paul Jett.
Survivors are sons Damien Price, Justin Price and Harry Price, stepdaughter Susan Jett Stone. Four grandsons, five granddaughters, five great-grandsons, six great granddaughters, three great-great-grandsons, three great-great-granddaughters, eight step grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; and, numerous wonderful friends.
