Funeral services for Rodolfo M. Alcachupas, 85, of Palestine are scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathon Frels officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Alcachupas passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler.
He was born on November 3, 1931, in Tinongan, Isabela, Negros Occidental to Fermin and Purificacion Malakad Alcachupas. He had lived in Palestine since 1990 coming from the Philippines. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Filipino-American Association. He enjoyed dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra songs. He liked dressing as a "cowboy" in his boots and hat. While in the Philippines, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a supervisor of a Sugar Central and enjoyed carpentry, building, and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Salvacion Alcachupas and 8 siblings. Survivors include his wife, Amalia Alcachupas; 8 daughters; 3 sons; 22 grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited on Friday, September 8, 2017, beginning at 6 PM and the visitation will follow from 6:30-8 PM at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel.
