"Tony" Stephen's Story
"Tony", Stephen A. Winkel passed away peacefully in Tyler, Texas on November 27, 2016 at the age of 65. He was born on March 26, 1951 in Palestine, Texas. He graduated from Cayuga High School and attended Henderson County Jr. College and Stephen F. Austin University. He formed his own construction company in 1976 and pursued his dreams. Throughout his career he never considered it work but rather a passion, developing lifelong friendships along the way.
He was a member of First Christian Church and a former Lone Pine Water Supply board member.
He was preceded in death by his parents JA and Ernestine Winkel and nephew John Costlow. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Loyie Crist Winkel, two sons Stephen Winkel and Kris Hall and Jordan Winkel and Kristina, grandchildren Madison, Kolbi and James, brother Todd Winkel, sisters Ann Brown and Tobin Winkel, sister-in-law Joyie Herrington and Jeff and numerous nieces.
Pallbearers will be Alec Law, Jay Herrington, Jeff Herrington, Tom Calhoun, Stephen Winkel and Jordan Winkel. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Crutcher and Wayne Croft.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016 with services following at 2:00 pm at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
