Funeral services for Ethel Hassell Foster, 101 of Palestine, will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at First United Methodist Church of Palestine, with Rev. Alex Lupo and Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Foster passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Cartmell Home for Aged. She was born January 6, 1915, in Bullard, Texas, to George Guston Hassell and Maggie Lee Smith Hassell. She graduated from Frankston High School in 1931 and from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mrs. Foster taught school in Montalba, Texas and at Nixon Business College. She worked at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home from 1960 until 1980, and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Hand Bell Choir and Harvey Woman's Club.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, husband L.E. Foster, son David E. Foster and sister Margaret H. Nixon. She is survived by one daughter Sylvia F. Price of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Prescott Price (Anita) of London, England, Valerie Mahood (Jeffrey) of Latheron Caithness, Scotland, Judge Pam Foster Fletcher (Phil), Michael D. Foster (Geri Lynn), all of Palestine, nine great grandchildren: Harriett Mahood, Charlotte Mahood, Emily Mahood, Sally Price, Dylan Fletcher, Annabelle Mahood, Grant Foster, Delaney Fletcher, and Clay Foster.
Pallbearers will be Prescott Price, Michael D. Foster, Phil Fletcher, Dylan Fletcher, Grant Foster, and Clay Foster.
Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
