Services for Eugene "Gene" Haak age 77 of Palestine will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Rajaian Mathias officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Chapel with visitation to follow the rosary. Arrangements have been entrusted to and provided by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Haak passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was born August 10, 1940 in Apple Springs, TX. to Wesley and Laura Ring Haak. Mr. Haak was retired from the telephone company where he was a supervisor, he was a police officer in Lufkin after returning from the military, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoors man, where he was on a dive team while in the service and ran a marathon in his 40's. Mr. Haak also served as a Justice of the Peace in Springtown.
Mr. Haak was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Haak, daughters, Lilly Walker and husband Kenneth, and Judy Shafer and husband David, sons Robert Haak, and Willie Haak and wife Starla, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Willie Joe Haak, Roger Haak, Cody Haak, Coleman Shafer, Luke Haak and Dakota Haak. Honorary pallbearers will be David Shafer and Josh Sterling.
