Evelyn's Story

Evelyn L. Goodson, age 75, of Palestine, went to her heavenly home on Monday, the 28th day of August, 2017. Evelyn was born on the 28th day of December, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri to Wilda Tanner and Robert Clyde Cook. Mrs. Goodson attended First Baptist Church in Neches. Evelyn had a passion for cooking and canning. Most importantly, she loved her family. Her children and grandchildren had her heart. Evelyn also loved the outdoors. She loved to hunt and fish. Evelyn worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Bealls Department Store and Kroger Food Store. She received numerous awards and recognition for her hard work. Evelyn was known for her attention to detail, her cheerful personality and determination to be the best she could be. Mrs. Goodson will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Evelyn Goodson is preceded in death by her mother, Wilda Tanner Cook, father, Robert Clyde Cook, sisters, Clydene Cook and Nancy Gunter and brother, Michael Cook.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charlie Goodson; son, Charlie Goodson Jr. of Palestine; daughter, Rhonda Gayle Cox and Tracy of Palestine; sisters, Pat Moore and Brian of Texarkana, Donna Hays and Virgil of Texarkana, Diana Beckham of Palestine; grandchildren, Charlie Goodson III, Courtney Kinnaman, Deana Goodson, Preston Goodson Cox, Lorne Goodson Cox, Charlie Goodson Cox; great grandchildren, Aaron Goodson, Kylee Goodson, Rachel Goodson and Carter Goodson.
The family will conduct a memorial service at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 10th of September, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Neches. Pastor David Dixon will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Evelyn Goodson can be made to First Baptist Church of Neches Building Fund, 200 Anderson Drive, Neches, Texas 75779.
