Graveside services for LaVern Norman, age 88, of Montalba are scheduled for 10 am on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery with Mark Norman, Bubba Norman, and Jason Bryant officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Norman passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the home of her son, Mark Norman surrounded by her family and close friends.
She was born on January 10, 1929, in Deanville, Texas to George Spacek and Emma Wolz Spacek. She was a member of Trail to Christ Cowboy Church in Jacksonville and on every Thursday night she could be found at He Rose Cowboy Fellowship and Arena in Montalba. LaVern cherished times spent with family. She loved horses, cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes. She was a breeder of Pug dogs for many years. She also enjoyed home decorating and collecting dolls. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W.H. "Bill" Norman in 2000; and a brother, Harlen Spacek.
LaVern is survived by her children, Sandy Williams and husband Virgil of Higgins, AR, Bubba Norman and wife Holly of Madisonville, and Mark Norman and wife Dee of Palestine; brother, George Spacek and wife Marleen of Burleson; sisters, Doloris Ranton of Alvin and Anne Chernosky of Alvarado; grandchildren, Jason Bryant and wife Elizabeth, Joshua Norman, Blake Norman and wife Jennifer, Kandi Mendoza and husband Mike, Kelsie Moody and husband Calab; and great grandchildren Aston Norman, Hannah Bryant, Abigail Bryant, Lily Bryant, Kendalyn Mahaffey and Klayton Norman and Baby Moody on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of He Rose Cowboy Fellowship and Arena.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Herrington/ Land of Memory Funeral Home.
