Services for Marion L. Frantzen, age 94 of Palestine, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Jordan Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Frantzen passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Cartmell Home for Aged. She was born September 19, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas to John R. and Una Tarver Wilson. She was named after both of her grandmothers, Marion Alice Wilson and Sarah Louise Tarver. She moved to Palestine in October of 1937 at the age of 15. She graduated from Palestine High School in May of 1940 and then from Nixon Business College. Mrs. Frantzen began dating "The Love of Her Life" Robert A. Frantzen in 1941. They were married in August 1944. She worked for Palestine Contractors from 1969 until her retirement in 1998 (29 years). She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, an active member of the First Christian Church of Palestine for over 75 years and held numerous positions during that time including teaching Sunday School for 50 years. During her retirement years she devoted her time to loving her family, tending her yard and flowers and working in church.
Mrs. Frantzen was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 41years, Robert. She is survived by her children Larry Frantzen and wife Rita of Diana, Martha Carpenter and husband Sonny of Silsbee and Don Frantzen of Kerrville, five grandchildren Lisa Frantzen and husband Oliver Christie, Chad Frantzen and wife Kelli, Christy Baldwin and husband Parker, Kimberly Soileau and husband Lee and Cody Carpenter and wife Alicia, and six great grandchildren, Tyler Frantzen, Megan Arney, Colby Arney, Breann Soileau, Haidyn Soileau and Nicholas Carpenter.
Pallbearers will be Chad Frantzen, Oliver Christie, Cody Carpenter, Lee Soileau, Parker Baldwin, and Kenny Wilson.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 31, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, First Christian Church of Palestine or to a charity of choice.
