Marjorie's Story

Marjorie DeFore Myers, age 84, of Palestine went to her heavenly home on Sunday, the 9th day of July, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones and angel, Kay Myers. Mrs. Myers was born on the 10th day of December, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Charles Robert DeFore and Ida Mae Self DeFore. Mrs. Myers was a very active member of society. Marjorie would say, "My foot is on go" when it came time to answer any call for help or fellowship with her beloved family. She was a member of the Cub Scouts of America, Houston City Council of P.T.A., and secretary of K. Starr. Marjorie also volunteered at Palestine Hospital and was a certified Natural Health Professional. Mrs. Myers was a Master Gardener and started the P.T.A. at Palestine High School in 1978.
Marjorie Myers is preceded in death by one grandson, Caleb Aaron Caruthers; sisters, Joan DeFore Garrey and Georgia DeFore Jones.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Edgar Myers of Palestine; son, Donald Ray Myers and wife Kay Lynn of Palestine; daughter, Wanda Jean Callaway and husband John of Tyler; grandchildren, Donald Charles Myers of Palestine Joshua Caruthers and wife Alex of Tulsa, Erica Silverstein and husband Matthew of Tulsa and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Miles and husband Jack of Houston, Barbara Duncan of Neches; brother, Robert DeFore and wife Maggie of Waco; many brothers and sisters, Jack, Mike, Larry, Mary, David, C.R., Billy, Tonie, Molly, Shelia and Kathy and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family in the reflection room and parlor at Rhone Funeral Home from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 13th day of July. Funeral services for Marjorie DeFore Myers will be at eleven o'clock on Friday, the 14th day of July, 2017 at Crockett Road Church of Christ in Palestine with Dan Manuel officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be C.R. DeFore, Billy DeFore, Tunny Defore, Joshua Caruthers, Matthew Silverstein and Billy Jack DeFore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Garvey, Billy Duncan, Alan Duncan, Larry DeFore, Joe Webb, Raymond DeFore, and Bobby DeFore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Crockett Road Church of Christ "Give Me the Bible" program, 1717 Crockett Road Church of Christ, Palestine, Texas 75801.
