Richard "Dick"'s Story
Funeral services for Richard (Dick) Reed of Palestine, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Riley Pippen officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
Mr. Reed passed away October 24, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Walling Reed of Palestine, his daughters, Jana Coker and husband Larry Coker of Palestine, and Lara Lea Pippen and husband Joey Pippen of Kilgore, three grandchildren; Serena Coker of Palestine, Collin and Cade Pippen of Kilgore, sisters Molly Ray of Palestine, and Bennye Rice of Dallas, and many life long friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Potsie and Joe Reed and an Aunt Bennie Green.
Dick was born September 14, 1939, and attended Palestine High School. He married Mary Walling in 1964. He lived his entire life in Palestine, Dick was proud of his National Guard service, where he specialized in tank operations. Dick Reed was a land surveyor for many years and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He dearly loved his wife and two daughters, and spent his retired days attending his grandchildren's performances and activities.
Pallbearers are Terry Walling, Bob Riley, Eddie Ray, Toby Barnett, Doug Johnson and Scott Johnson.
Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
