Palestine, Texas - Billy Bob Beil, 84 of Palestine, Texas passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born in Stamford, Texas on November 29, 1940 to Buford Hogan Beil and Opal Olena Johanson Beil. Billy played high school football at Stamford High School. On his 17th birthday he enlisted in the Army. He served a total of four years. The majority of his deployment was in Korea, where he achieved sergeant.

In 1961 he married Wanda Faye Shott. They lived in several places out of state before settling in Houston, Texas after the birth of Michael, their first child, in 1962. In 1967 Laura, their second child was born. Shortly after, they moved to Huntsville where he began his long, successful career with TDC. During his twenty-five and a half years, he was recognized for many achievements including the Supervisory Excellence Award in 1983. Also, during his tenure as Northern Regional Industry Director, when the state was mandated to double the amount of prisons, his factories produced and installed the needed materials to help double the amount of prisons. When a job was needed to be done the Huntsville Administration called on him often.

In retirement, he and his family moved to Palestine, where he continued working for the Step Program, and selling heavy machinery. His hobbies included, fishing, camping, and playing golf. At age 70, he shot a hole in one and was recognized with an award from Pine Dunes. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He taught them to play golf, fish, and entertained them continuously.

He was preceded in death by his father Buford Hogan Beil, mother Opal Olena Johanson Beil, brother Jackie Buford Beil, and beloved granddaughter Hannah Mariah Glenn. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Faye Shott Beil, his son Michael Beil and wife Sara, daughter Laura Glenn and husband Frank. Grandchildren, Toney Beil and wife Aminta, Macie Brooks, Rachel Beil, Kristen Coborn and husband Jayson and Jake Glenn. Great-Grandchildren, Zoii-Jane Clark and husband Noah, Kinzie Wilson, Jayce Coborn, Eli Beil, Jaisley Beil, Desi Brooks, Jaxyn Coborn, Felix Beil, and expecting their first great-great grandchild, Stevie Clark.


Services for Billy Beil will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine, beginning with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Dan Manuel officiating. The burial will be at Land of Memory Cemetery.
