Ed Platt Obituary

Palestine, TX - William Edward (Ed) Platt, Sr. passed away on June 10, 2025. Born August 17, 1947 to George & Hazel Platt in Palestine, Texas. Ed graduated from Palestine High School in 1965 where he was in the 4-H club, being named the 4-H electrical winner in the State of Texas. He continued his education, graduating from Texas A&M University in1969, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. A devoted husband and loving father, Ed and Carolyn (Brown) married in 1972 in Tyler and shared three children.

Ed worked over 35 years, starting as a summer intern, for TP&L and TXU. Later, he worked another 15 years for Solomon Associates. Finding joy in nature, he loved hunting, ATVing, and vacations with family and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bill Platt.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter Carrie Platt Ryan and her husband Robb; son Jeff Platt; brother George "Bobby" Platt and his wife Martha; sister Melia Hunter and her husband Lee; several nephews and nieces and their families; sister-in-law Barbara Brown; and sister-in-law Sarah Waller and her husband George Waller.

Special thanks to the employees of Legend Oaks Nursing Home in Ennis and Bristol Hospice for their care of Ed over the past year.


A visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 W. Main St. Waxahachie, Texas.
