Floyd Joe Commander
Floyd Joe Commander, 87, of Palestine, TX
April 22, 1932 - October 08, 2019
In the early morning of October the 8th, Joe Commander received his eternal reward.
Joe was a faithful husband, father and friend to many.
Joe was born a Sandy headed little boy from Red River County. He was a twin brother that died at birth. He was also a brother to 7 siblings, himself being the youngest.
His passion was his family, the Gas and Oil patch, nature, music and being a Rancher after retirement. Joe had many friends in and around the Palestine area and all over the state of Texas. He had a special group of friends at the Elkhart Cattle Sale Barn. He enjoyed breakfast and a good cup of coffee on sale days with them.
After selling his herd, he enjoyed working on small projects around the Ranch, then taking a rest in his chair on the patio on the ranch with his dog Dixie.
Joe was a born again Christian, saved at Antioch Baptist Church in his early 30's and baptized in Lasiter Lake outside of Palestine.
Mr. Commander lost his loving wife of 59 years on August 14, 2014. Mr Commander is survived by son Richard and Joan of Norfolk England, Cecil and Melody, Glen and Shery, Carla and Donnie Camp all of Palestine, Sheriff, Retired J.R. and Theresa Commander Brownlow of Chandler,Tx. 6 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and 1 sister in law of Bourg La.
I am thankful for the loads of friends, co-workers, church families, nurses at Dogwood, and doctors that flooded heaven with their prayers on his be halph. All of you,can rest assured he left this life in peace and with God's mercy. At his last breath, he was standing before his Heavenly Father.
My siblings have chosen that there would be no services for my daddy. I ask that you hold tight to your memories of my dad and cherish them as Ronny and I will. In lieu of flowers, Please send donations to the Palestine Cowboy Church, where daddy enjoyed attending.
Composed by loving daughter, Theresa Commander Brownlow.
