Genevieve "Gen" Betty (Boro) Merrick, 81, of Palestine, Texas died Thursday November 18, 2021 at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.
Genevieve was born on December 20, 1939 at Omaha, Nebraska. She is the only daughter of Edward Leonard Boro and Bernice Beatrice (Sova) Boro. She is survived by her three other siblings; Edward and Sandy, Lawrence, and Theodore and Sheri all of Omaha, Nebraska, and many nieces and nephews.
Survivors of her immediate family include her daughters and sons-in-law: Janelle and Steve Riehle of Grand Island, NE., Rita and Patrick Lyness of Ben Wheeler, TX
Tammy Merrick of Grand Island, NE.
Amy and Brent Stark of Palestine, TX.
Sons and daughters-in-law: Gregory and Jerilyn Merrick of Stromsburg, NE., Charles "Chuck" and Emily Merrick of Grand Island, NE. Grandchildren are; David Riehle, Jenna (Riehle)and Joe Rivera, Michael (Merrick) Brammer, Daniel Merrick, Luke Lyness, Seth Lyness, Adam Haberberger, Katie Haberberger, Grant Stark and Clark Stark.
Great Granddaughters are; Sierra Ventura, Bella Rivera, Jade and Kelsey Merrick.
Gen grew up in Omaha and later the family moved to Edinburg, TX where she graduated from Donna High School in the center of the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating from high school Gen worked as a photographer at Linn Studios in McAllen, TX before marrying James O. Merrick. Gen lived most of her life as a homemaker raising her seven children. She lived in Omaha, Council Bluffs, IA, Grand Island, NE and Palestine, TX. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her children and grandchildren.
