Harry Jenkins Obituary

Montalba, Texas - Join us as we celebrate the life of Harry Jenkins on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Montalba. Harry was born on September 21, 1939. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2025 and was preceded in death by his father Charlie, mother Otis Ray, and brothers Bob and Theo. He is survived by siblings Bill, Charles, Otis Ray, Wylie & Mary. Harry is also survived by his wife Carletta and sons, Rickey, Jeff, Chad, and Brian. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy. Harry built a successful career as an insurance professional in Houston, where he not only excelled but also mentored and trained many young men and women who went on to enjoy outstanding careers of their own. A true entrepreneur at heart, Harry loved to buy and sell just about anything—and if you knew him long, there's a good chance you either bought a car from him or sold one to him. Sports were one of Harry's lifelong passions. A proud graduate of Cayuga High School's Class of 1958, he was a standout basketball player whose talent made him an instant favorite at Henderson County Junior College (now Trinity Valley Community College), since the fans from Cayuga followed him closely as he continued his basketball career just a few miles away. After retiring from insurance, Harry began investing in residential real estate in the Montalba-Springfield area. Those who knew him best knew that his true motivation was being close to Cayuga so he could keep cheering on the local teams. Whether it was football, basketball, softball, or volleyball, Harry rarely missed a game—and if you attended one, you probably heard him enthusiastically "helping" the referees from the stands. Harry's love for family, community, sports, and good conversation touched everyone who knew him. His humor and spirited presence will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he influenced and the countless memories he created.
