Aug. 11, 1938-Dec. 28, 2011. Jerry Don "J.D." Whitton of Plano Texas passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at the Porter Funeral Home in Mexia, Texas with Brother James Herrington officiating. Interment will follow at Ferguson Cemetery near Oletha, Texas.. J.D. was born August 11, 1938 to A.B. and Erma Whitton in Waco, Texas. J.D. Whitton retired from a long successful career as a Major from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and will be missed by many friends and loved ones. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a collector of firearms. His greatest love was his family and friends.. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Gwen Whitton; daughters, Leesa Oertli and Laura Draxler; son-in-laws, Andrew Draxler and Gery McGilvray; grandchildren, Jadon Neal, Kerby Oertli, Pierce Draxler, Jerrad Draxler and Grace Draxler; and best friend, Weldon Hodge.. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Thompson, Larry Plentl, Bill Watts, David McDowell, Kevin Wheat, Jadon Neal and Drew Draxler. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Robert Emerson..
