Margaret Louise (Shaw) Farmer Obituary

Margaret Louise Shaw Farmer, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 22, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan. Margaret was born 14 September 1931 in Brownfield, Texas. Her parents, Roland

and Cora Parker Shaw, were living there on land Roland had homesteaded in 1916. Shortly after Margaret's birth, Roland received word that his

father, James Clinton Shaw, was in declining

health and needed help with the family farm.

So as an infant Margaret moved to Elkhart

with her three brothers (Lynn, J.C., and

Homer) and her sister (Dorothy) to begin life

in the Piney Woods. All five children graduated

from Elkhart High School. Through the assistance

of her aunt, Gladys Shaw Bishop,

Margaret enrolled in the Lilly Jolly School of

Nursing in Houston, earning her R.N. She

married James Ray Farmer on Christmas

Day, 1951. When James Ray passed in 1972,

Margaret moved to College Station. She

served as a nurse at South Knoll Elementary

School, and at the Brazos County Health Department.

Margaret is survived by children, Curtis

and Beverly Farmer of Palestine, Karen and

Dave Pace of Crowley, Mala Farmer of College

Station, Collin and Donna Farmer of The

Woodlands; eleven grandchildren, Sarah

Morris, Daniel Farmer, Kailan Wagler,

Joshua Oak Farmer; Elery Lesher, Vanessa

Slots, Colleen Parker; Nicolas Farmer;

Colton Farmer, Daylon Farmer, Camden

Farmer; and eight great-grandchildren, Anna

Farmer, David Farmer, Lilly Farmer, Lara

Farmer, Casimir Wagler, Keston Wagler,

Dane Slots, and Isaac Parker.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. Funeral services

will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February

5, 2022 in the chapel of the Funeral Home.

Committal will follow at College Station City

Cemetery.
