Michelle Sheri Sansom Bolton
A Celebration of Life
Michelle Sheri Sansom Bolton, 57, passed away on January 29, 2020 at HomePlace at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler after a five-year battle with cancer.
Michelle was born in Houston on August 2, 1962 but moved with her parents James and Lynda Sansom to Palestine at the age of two. She has lived and worked in Palestine since that time, raised three children, and was faithful to her Lord all her life. She graduated from Palestine High School and the University of Texas at Tyler. She was finishing her Masters Degree when she was diagnosed with cancer. For more than thirty years she has taught piano lessons to budding musicians in the area. Her final days were filled with visits from family members, lifelong friends, and dear students.
The funeral service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. David English and Reverend Brad Perry officiating. Visitation with family will be held one hour before the service and internment will be at Land of Memory Cemetery following the service.
Michelle is survived by her parents; her husband, Barry Thornton of Palestine; her children Lindsey Boyd (and husband, Will) of Georgetown, Michael Bolton of Palestine, and Richard Cooksey of Palestine; her daughters Ashley Fricault (and husband, Joe) her granddaughter Madison Fricault, and Savannah West (and husband, Joey); her grandson Jhett West; her brothers Jay Sansom (and wife, Haylie) of New Braunfels and Jody Sansom of Austin; her niece, Madison Sansom; her nephew, Jackson Sansom; her aunt, Glenda Bailey; and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamyn Cooksey.
Pallbearers for the service will include Bruce Bryan, Joe Fricault, Jiggs Fritze, David Ives, Kevin Meier, Danny Rodriquez, Jeff Thornton, and Joey West. Honorary pallbearers are all her Prayer Warriors that walked alongside her the last five years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following organizations that support cancer patients throughout their journey: Hospice of East Texas; MD Anderson; the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation; or Wonders & Worries, which provides free professional support for children and teenagers through a parent's serious illness.
