Elkhart, Texas - James "Shorty" Little sadly passed away on June 6th, at his home surrounded by love. He was a wonderful husband, father, and pawpaw who was always there when we needed him, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, he was a cherished member of the community in Oakwood, TX, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gereleane Little; and leaves behind his wife Judy Little; children, Aubrey Kimbrough and husband Chris, Joe Little and wife Shelly, Tawny Halstead and husband Clint, Jodie Olson and husband Brian; as well as his grandchildren Kacie, Carlie, Dillan, Harper, and Madden. He also leaves behind his sister Debra Hayes and beloved nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews.
Shorty was a graduate of Westwood High class of 1972. He loved football and kept his passion for sports alive all of his life. He could be seen supporting local school teams from the gym to the field. He worked for Lake Trucking and TDCJ, he had an incredible work ethic and took pride in a job well done. Shorty enjoyed spending his time working outside for his family and his neighbors. He attended Basset Road Missionary Baptist Church, recently rededicating his life. He had a generous spirit whether donating to children's hospitals, local organizations, or kids in need of clothes, supplies or glasses.
His loss will be deeply mourned by his family and countless friends who felt his warmth and generosity
A visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will commence at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel. Followed by a burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
