Stella Butler
Stella Butler of Elkhart TX passed away on April 21, 2025 after struggling with health issues for several years.
Stella was born in Houston TX on March 21, 1940 to Aaron and Frances Beene. Her adoring parents encouraged her curious nature and she developed a lifelong love for learning.
Stella met the love of her life Lawrence Mack Butler at Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, TX. She and Mack married in 1962 and began raising a family. Stella was a dedicated teacher at Elkhart Elementary for 27 years and faithful member of First Methodist Church of Elkhart. Her family cannot express how much she loved her community.
Stella Butler leaves behind her husband of 62 years Mack Butler; her 3 children; Dianna and Mike Homann, Larry and Tina Butler, and Joe and Karen Butler; her 6 grandchildren; Michael and Grace Homann, Kevin and Bre Homann, Josh and Kimberly Homann, David Butler, Heather Butler, and Erica Butler; her 7 great grandchildren Emily, Mallory, James, Everett, Emerson, Wesley, and Wyatt Homann; her sisters and brother; Dianna and Joel Hokanson, Frances and John Walther, Dixie Shepherd, Aaron and Diane Beene. Numerous nieces and nephews also loved their Aunt Stella.
Visitation will be held Friday April 25, 2025 at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home in Palestine TX from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday April 26, 2025 at First Methodist Church of Elkhart at 10:00 am. Lunch will be provided for family after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at Wortham City Cemetery in Wortham TX at 1:30 pm.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
