Palestine, TX - William Lynn Kolander was the third of four children born to William Herman Kolander and Hilda Mae Ehrlich-Kolander. He came into this world on February 9, 1936 in Shattuck, Oklahoma where he grew up and graduated high school. This was where he met his wife, Linda Marilyn Lomax-Kolander.

After high school and working in Oklahoma City for a while, Bill then volunteered for the United States Air Force. He served at the end of the Korean War and the beginning of the Vietnam War.

After the Air Force, Bill used the GI Bill to attend Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated with a degree in engineering in 1961. In Bill's senior year at OU, Marilyn became pregnant with their first child, a boy they named William Eric Kolander.

Upon graduation Bill and Marilyn moved to Richardson, Texas where Bill went to work for Texas Instruments.

In late 1963, Marilyn again became pregnant with their second child, a boy they named John Douglas Kolander.

Over the years, Bill worked at several electronics firms.

In 1991 Bill took a job at Marlow Industries where he worked until he retired in 2011.

After retiring, Bill and Marilyn moved to Palestine, Texas to live out their days. Marilyn died just before Thanksgiving in 2018.

Bill and Marilyn travelled extensively. Their favorite "second honeymoon" destination was San Francisco.

Upon Marilyn's death, Bill moved into the Windemere Assisted Living Facility where they took good care of him.

Bill leaves behind his two sons (Bill and John Kolander), a daughter-in-law/John's Wife (Ann Kolander), three granddaughters (Kristi Kolander, Stacy Pardue and Kennedy Kolander), one grandson-in-law (Kollin Pardue), two great-grandsons (Jackson Findley and Kolsen Pardue, his younger brother Gary and many nieces and nephews.
